The Redmi S2 was recently introduced in China and it is expected to be launched as Redmi Y2 in India as the successor of last year’s selfie phone Redmi Y1. Xiaomi has already scheduled an event on June 7 in India to launch a new Redmi smartphone. Now the benchmark listing of the smartphone has also confirmed that it will be called the Redmi Y2.
Redmi Y2 Specifications
This Geekbench listing reveals the phone will run on Android 8.1 Oreo and pack 3GB of RAM. For chipset, the listing has mentioned a 2GHz Octa-Core SoC that we already know will be a Snapdragon 625 chipset. In single core performance, it has received a score of 843 while in multi-core the score is 4196.
If we talk about other specs, they have already been revealed as the Redmi S2 is launched in China. The Redmi Y2 will sport a 5.99-inch HD+ (1440 × 720 pixels) 2.5D curved glass display with 18:9 aspect ratio. It will be powered by a Snapdragon 625 SoC coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, however, the 4GB + 64GB model could also be launched in India.
If we talk about the camera, the phone sports a dual camera setup on the back, despite being a selfie-centric phone. The dual rear camera setup has 12MP primary camera with LED Flash, 1.25μm pixel size, PDAF, and f/2.2 aperture, and a secondary 5MP camera. For selfies, there is a 16MP front-facing camera with LED flash.
The dual SIM phone has a dedicated slot for microSD card, so two SIM cards and one microSD card can be used simultaneously. Other connectivity options are 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS. It will pack a 3,000mAh battery.
Redmi Y2 Expected Price in India
Xiaomi Redmi S2 was introduced in China starting at 999 yuan (Rs. 10,560 approx.) for the 3GB RAM with 32GB storage version. So, we can expect the same price range for Redmi Y2 in India and we should know the exact price for India when it is launched on June 7. The Redmi Y2 will come in Rose gold, Champagne Gold and Platinum Silver color options.
