According to the Microsoft patent that has been filed, it seems to be prepping a smartwatch resembling the likes of competitors such as Samsung Gear 2 and Gear Fit, the fitness tracker. The very first smartwatch from the Windows maker is said to come equipped with in-built apps and sensors that can monitor the user’s heart rate, calories burnt and distance traveled. Furthermore, it is also said to feature a music player, messaging app, alarm clock and phone dialer besides notification services. The smartwatch is also claimed to have a pop out band that is made of elasticized fabric that is reminiscent to a sweatband. Such a design is useful in removing the body of the smartwatch to wash the band thoroughly whenever needed. Apart from this, Microsoft is also working on a specialized dock to charge the smartwatch with or without the wristband. It is this dock that can double as a bedside alarm clock. Interestingly, this patent was filed in Q4 2012 tipping that its launch can happen sometime this year. Earlier rumors suggest that the Microsoft smartwatch will arrive with a 1.5 inch touch screen display and that it will be developed by the Xbox team. However, we need to wait until the launch of the smartwatch or wait for an official word from the software giant. Source
